Behavioural and Emotional Development
About Course
Behavioural and Emotional Development
Overview:
The Behavioural and Emotional Development program is designed to help special children understand, manage, and express their emotions in healthy and constructive ways. This course focuses on building self-awareness, emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and coping mechanisms to enhance social and academic participation.
Children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or developmental delays often face challenges in communicating emotions or managing impulses. Our structured program provides a supportive and nurturing environment where every child learns to build emotional balance, confidence, and self-control.
Objectives:
-
To develop awareness and understanding of one’s own emotions.
-
To encourage positive behaviour patterns through reinforcement and routine.
-
To enhance self-regulation and impulse control.
-
To build resilience and reduce anxiety or frustration.
-
To promote empathy, patience, and cooperation with peers and adults.
Key Focus Areas:
-
Emotional Identification:
Helping children recognise and label different emotions (happy, sad, angry, scared) using visual aids, stories, and role-play. -
Behavioural Management:
Using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and positive reinforcement techniques to replace challenging behaviours with appropriate responses. -
Self-Regulation Strategies:
Teaching calming techniques like deep breathing, counting, or sensory breaks to manage stress and anger. -
Social Interaction and Relationship Building:
Encouraging teamwork, sharing, and communication through guided group activities, games, and storytelling. -
Confidence and Self-Esteem Building:
Motivating children through praise, rewards, and achievement charts to reinforce positive self-image.
Teaching Approach:
Our therapists and educators work closely with each learner using an individualised plan tailored to their behavioural profile and emotional needs. We integrate therapies like ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis), Play Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Techniques, and Social Stories to create a warm, structured, and engaging environment.
Regular progress tracking and parent feedback sessions ensure that strategies are consistent both at school and at home.
